Blooming Buds School, Moga, a renowned educational institution of Moga city, Under able patronage of group Chairman Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Saini and Chairperson Madam Kamal Saini’s hosted a seminar organized under the Capacity Building Program by the COE Cell of CBSE with the main theme ‘Happy Classrooms’. During this seminar CBSE Resource Person Sh. Sukhdev Singh Principal D.A.V. Public School, Abohar and Shri Yogesh Gambhir Principal D.R.V. D.A.V. Centenary Public School Phillaur, District Jalandhar briefed the topic of ‘Happy Classrooms’ in detail. While sharing information about this, he said that under this topic, how a teacher can transform his classroom into a ‘Happy Classroom’ will be taught. It is often seen that the classroom atmosphere is tense which has a negative impact on the students. Therefore, it becomes essential to maintain a pleasant classroom atmosphere to transmit positive energy among the students. There are some points for this initiative such as understanding emotional intelligence whereby it becomes necessary to understand one’s feelings and appreciate those feelings. For this a teacher can use a variety of tools such as monitoring students’ mood, establishing a professional relationship between teacher and student, gaining more information about their student and actively coping with situations. The second point is the definition of behavior and misbehavior in which it is stated that sometimes the misbehavior of a student also affects the class environment so instead of punishing or reprimanding the student, the teacher should try to find out if a student misbehaves. What is the root cause of the student’s misbehavior and what should be done to remove that cause. A third important point is ways to increase happiness in the classroom. Therefore, teachers should establish a professional relationship with students without any hesitation. Students should include stories, examples etc. in the way of teaching so that learning takes the form of entertainment. Various activities were also conducted during this seminar. In which the teachers participated and increased their knowledge and learned how to maintain a pleasant classroom environment. On this occasion, the school principal Dr. Hamiliya Rani while appreciating the initiative taken by the COE cell, she said that teachers will be able to make their classroom environment more pleasant through the knowledge gained from this seminar.
