Chandnawan, Blooming Buds Senior Secondary School celebrated ‘Dussehra’ festival.

Blooming Buds Senior Secondary School, Village Chandnawan, a part of BBS Group of Schools, a reputed educational institution of District Moga, which is running under the able patronage of Group Chairman Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Saini and Chairperson Mrs. Kamal Saini celebrated the festival of Dussehra with great pomp. On this occasion, a special prayer meeting was organized at the school campus. Very beautiful charts related to this day were made by the school students. Speaking on this occasion, the school principal Mrs. Anjana Rani told that Dussehra is a major festival of Hindus. It is held on the 10th date of Shukla Paksha of the month of Assu. Lord Rama killed Ravana on this day. It is celebrated as the victory of truth over evil. Hence, this Dashmi is also known as Vijayadashmi. On this day people start a new works. In ancient times, the kings used to pray for victory on this day and leave for Ran-Yatra. On this day fairs are held everywhere. Ram Leela is organized. A huge effigy of Ravana is made and burnt. Dussehra and Vijayadsami are celebrated as the victory of Lord Rama and as Durga Puja. This is a festival of joy and victory. Dussehra festival is celebrated to show bravery in individuals and society. Madam Jyoti Bansal and Raman Sharma while addressing the students told that the festival celebrated on the tenth day of the month of Assu is called Dussehra in memory of the killing of Ravana by the hands of Shri Ram Chandra. It is also called Vijay Dashmi. Ravana has ten heads: the killing of him who has ten heads is called Dussehra. On this day, the students celebrated Dussehra by burning an effigy of Ravana at the school campus.
