Blooming Buds Senior Secondary School, Chandnawana a famous education institute of District Moga, celebrated the Prakash Purab of Shri Guru Ramdas Ji. On this occasion, a special prayer meeting was organized at the school campus. Shabad was sung by the students of the middle and higher classes. Guru Ramdas Ji was the fourth guru among the ten gurus of Sikhism. On the occasion of Prakash Purab, Principal Madam Mrs. Anjana Rani, Madam Raman Sharma, Madam Sukhjit Kaur and Madam Sarabjit Kaur while addressing the students said that according to the Nanakshahi calendar, Guru Ramdas Ji was born in 1534 in the city of Lahore. His father Bhai Hari Das Ji and mother Anup Devi Ji gave him the birth name Jetha. He was the youngest son of Haridas Ji and Anup Devi Ji. When he was seven years old, his parents died and he was raised by his maternal grandmother. At the age of 12, Bhai Jetha and his maternal grandmother moved to Goindwal in the Tarn Taran district of Punjab, where he met the third Guru of the Sikhs, Sri Guru Amardas Ji. Since then, Bhai Jetha Ji accepted Guru Amardas Ji as his Guru and started serving him. Bhai Jetha ji used to find great joy and satisfaction in serving his Guru and Sangat selflessly and humbly. Seeing his years of selfless service, Guru Amardas ji was very impressed by Bhai Jetha and married his daughter Bibi Bhani ji to Bhai Jetha ji. They had three sons: Pirthi Chand, Mahadev and Arjan Dev. Looking at Bhai Jethaji’s spirit of service and sacrifice and examining and testing him over the years Guru Amar Das Ji changed Bhai Jetha Ji’s name to Ram Das in 1574 and appointed him as the fourth Guru of the Sikhs. Guru Ram Das Ji continued his commitment to selfless service. Bani written by Guru Ramdas Ji contains 638 sacred hymns composed by Guru Ji in 30 different ragas of classical music. This Bani is recorded in the holy book Sri Guru Granth Sahib. Under the leadership of Guru Ramdas Ji, the foundation stone of the construction of Sri Harmandir Sahib was laid by Hazrat Mian Mir Ji in 1577. The construction work continued till 1604 when it was finally completed by Guru Arjan Dev Ji. Addressing the students by Madam Jaspreet Kaur Sangha and Jyoti Bansal, said that Sri Guru Ramdas Ji is credited with establishing the city of Amritsar. Which is now the holiest city for Sikhs. Guru Ramdas Sahib also wrote many popular hymns sung in Sikh religious ceremonies. Guru Ramdas Ji created the life-giving ‘lavan’ used in the Sikh Anand Karja, which is a part of the sikh marriage ceremony.
