A special assembly was organized in the school in the morning. In which students of junior wing and third class gave beautiful speeches and danced. After this, the senior girls performed a Punjabi folk dance in a very beautiful manner, showing how the Lohri festival becomes more special in Punjabi culture when a child is born in the family. Apart from this, beautiful charts, informative articles and poems were also recited by the students. School Principal Dr. Hamiliya Rani congratulated everyone on this holy day. Meanwhile group chairman Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Saini and chairperson Mrs. Kamal Saini lit the holy fire of Lohri. While congratulating everyone and shedding light on the history of this holy day, he said that Lohri day is not only related to the harvest of wheat and mustard, but there is also a historical event behind it, according to which Dulla Bhatti a warrior saved the two daughters of a Brahmin from the Mughal ruler and took them to the forest at night to get them married. From this very day, the folk song “Sunder Mundriye, Tera Kaun Vichara” which is often sung on the occasion of Lohri has come into existence. Apart from this, there is a special importance of celebrating Lohri when there is a new marriage and also when a son is born in the house. But nowadays a lot has changed, now people celebrate Lohri with pomp even on the birth of daughters. With this, a new thinking is emerging in the society which is increasing the respect of daughters and there is an effort to remove the social evil like infanticide from the society. Apart from this, while congratulating the staff on Makar Sankranti (Maghi), he said that 12 Sankranti occur during one cycle of the Earth around the Sun, but the special importance of Makar Sankranti is considered because on this day the Earth enters the sign of Capricorn. The day of the 6 months of the Sun begins. This day is also celebrated as ‘Uttarayan’ in many states of the country. On this occasion, the school management distributed peanuts, rice cakes and sweets to all the staff and students of the school.
