Blooming Buds Senior Secondary School Village Chandnawan, Tehsil-Baghapurana, a part of BBS Group of Schools, a renowned educational institution of District Moga, running under the able patronage of Group Chairman Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Saini and Chairperson Madam Kamal Saini celebrated Gandhi Jayanti in the school. On this occasion, a special prayer meeting was organized in the school campus. The students made very beautiful charts related to Gandhi Jayanti. On this occasion, while addressing the students in the school campus, the head teacher Madam Anjana Rani told that Gandhi Jayanti is a national event of India. It has great importance in the life of every Indian. It is celebrated every year on October 2 in memory of Mahatma Gandhi. Gandhi was born on October 2, 1869 at Porbandar, Gujarat. This important day is celebrated with great respect and pride throughout the country. Mahatma Gandhiji was a great preacher of non-violence. He was a freedom fighter, a great leader and a supporter of non-violence policy in achieving a goal. Under his leadership, India got independence from the British on August 15, 1947. Considering his contribution to the nation, he is called the father of India. Not only Indians but also foreigners were inspired by his ideals. In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly announced that October 2 will be celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence. The President and Prime Minister of India celebrate this day by visiting the mausoleum of Mahatma Gandhi at the Raj Ghat in New Delhi.
