District Disaster Management Officer Mr. Ram Chandra told the students how to save in case of natural calamity – Principal
Blooming Buds School, a renowned educational institution of the area, which is moving forward under the leadership of Group Chairman Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Saini and Chairperson Madam Kamal Saini, is making its own identity. Today, during the morning meeting of the students in the school, District Disaster Management Officer Mr. Ram Chandra shared very important information with the students on the subject of Disaster Management. School Principal Mrs. Hamiliya Rani, Vice Principal Mrs. Nidhi Brar and CEO. Rahul Chhabra ji welcomed Ram Chandra ji by giving bouquet. Addressing the students, he said that today it has become very important for every section of the society to make themselves capable of dealing with natural calamities. By telling the students that school is a very important place through which we can share any information with as many people as possible in a very short time. While giving information he said that, earthquake, flood, fire, tsunami, tornado etc. are the main forms of natural disasters. But as Punjab State is far from the sea coast, the danger of tsunami is very less. But as Moga city falls under Seismic Zone 4 so the biggest risk is earthquake. He shared specific information about the ways we can protect ourselves if we are faced with a situation like an earthquake while being in different places like home, school, market, shopping mall etc. He said that first of all we should try to save our head, should not panic at all and should try to reach a safe place. If earthquake shocks are felt in the school, at that time one should sit under the desk and hold it tightly to save one’s head. He explained this in a practical way by calling a child volunteer on stage. He said that if there is a child or an elderly person with you, you should help him. As soon as the convulsions subside, one should move to a safe place. Lifts should never be used during natural calamities like earthquakes. If the power supply is stopped, the lift may stop midway and the risk increases. Similarly, if there is a fire situation, we should not run away. Most of the fires are caused by short circuits. To avoid that, he said that the capacity should always be checked while installing the electrical plug, sometimes we install more than two electrical appliances in one switch which causes a short circuit. He also took a promise from the students that they will share all this information with their family members and friends when they go home. After this, the school principal Dr. Hamiliya Rani thanked Mr. Ram Chandra ji that BBS organization highly appreciates the efforts made by Hon’ble D.C. Office, Education Department and District Disaster Management Department. She further said that that the information shared by Shri Ram Chandra will help the students in any calamity.
